Recently, our client, a food company in Hangzhou was sued by a well-known Japanese comic company for illegal use of its cartoon image Chibi Maruko Chan. Lawyers Wang Quanmin and Jiang Li investigated the origin of the image and found out that the plaintiff was neither the copyrighter of the image nor authorized to use it. They also quoted other similar effective judgment as reference to fully argue that there was complex relationship between cartoon TV works and cartoon image. The court admitted all the defending statement from our lawyers. Finally, the plaintiff withdrew the suit automatically.
